Suspicious Email? Check These 5 Things Before You Click

Apr 10
1 min read

If an email feels even slightly off, do not click first and investigate later.

1. Check the full sender address, not just the display name.

2. Be cautious with urgency: “act now,” “payment failed,” “account locked,” or “final notice.”

3. Hover over links before clicking. The destination should match the company you expect.

4. Do not open unexpected attachments, even if the message appears to come from someone you know.

5. When in doubt, go directly to the company’s website or contact the sender another way.

Never send a password, verification code, or payment information because an email asked for it.
